ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“Light is the primary focus in my watercolor paintings. I find that dramatic lights and dark shadows transform the ‘ordinary’ into the ‘extraordinary’.
I gather reference materials for painting by photographing interesting subject matter in early morning or late afternoon sunlight. A well-developed drawing and a carefully thought out plan for the painting process contribute greatly to the success of my paintings.
Through the use of dramatic lighting and color moods, I try to show traditional subject matter from a different perspective.”
