"B-24 Liberator...Big Winged Workhorse"
oil (print) 26 in x 19 in
edition limited to 900
Not as glamorous as its sister heavy bomber, the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-24 Liberator, with its huge bomb load capacity, was produced in greater numbers and was used effectively in every theater of World War II. In this aviation print by Chuck Long, B-24Ds of the Eighth Air Force maneuver to tighten their formation after hitting the target and turning for home. It will be many hours before they are back in friendly skys. Every air crew is straining to see behind each cloud, sharp eyes searching for deadly Luftwaffe fighters.
